Are peas vegetables or legumes?

Botany
The green pea or garden pea belongs to the papilionaceous family. Leguminous plants such as beans and lentils are pulses. From a botanical point of view , the pea is therefore a legume.

Nutrition
Nutritionists, however, classify peas as vegetables . Once the pea seeds are ripe and dried, we call them dried peas. However, they belong to the legume family.

Ingredients
The amount of carbohydrates and proteins in fresh peas is higher than that of vegetables and lower than that of pulses. Like other vegetables, peas contain hardly any fat. Compared to most other vegetables, peas provide a greater amount of dietary fiber. They provide your body with plenty of potassium, iron, magnesium, zinc and niacin.
